Claire is a leading insurance lawyer and heads the Global Insurance Sector at DWF Law LLP.
A partner at 31, she became a full equity partner at 34 and was one of two founding partners of DWF's London office in 2008. She sat on DWF's main Strategic Board from 2016-2019 and brought diversity to the Board table at a crucial time, as the firm navigated through the complexities of being the first law firm listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange in March 2019.
Claire has featured in The Financial Times and regularly appears in the legal and insurance industry press, being a regular commentator on gender diversity as well as legal and insurance industry issues. In addition, Claire sits on the Committee of I-Win, which promotes and supports female talent across the insurance industry, and is a Freeman of the City of London.
Claire won the Woman of Achievement Award (Insurance Category) at the Women in the City Awards in 2011, and won Insurance Lawyer of the Year in 2019 at that inaugural Women in Insurance Awards.
Aon, Reinsurance Solutions
Dominic Christian is Global Chairman of Aon, Reinsurance Solutions. He is a member of the Global Executive of Aon.
Prior to this he was co-CEO of Aon Benfield. He was a Group Board Director of Benfield Group plc, CEO of its International Division and CEO of Benfield Ltd. Dominic began his career in the mid-1980s at specialist broker JK Buckenham, joined broker Greig Fester in 1989 and became a director in 1994. He has spent a significant portion of his career broking retrocession business and, when his colleagues allow, he endeavours to continue to do so.
Dominic is a Director of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a Director of The Bermuda Society, Chairman of the Lloyd's Tercentenary Research Foundation and Chairman of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (SCVA). In 2014 he was honoured to be elected as a Member of the Council of Lloyd’s. For 2015/16 he was President of the Insurance Institute of London. He was recently re-elected to the Court of Common Council of The City of London. He leads the Inclusion@Lloyd's Group – a contemporary approach to Diversity and Inclusion being in his view central to future business success. He was recently appointed Chair of ClimateWise.
Dominic holds an Honours Degree in History from the University of East Anglia and an Honorary Doctorate in Civil Law.
Chief Executive Officer
Alistair is Chief Executive Officer for Marsh’s UK Corporate business. In this role he is responsible for over 600 colleagues across the UK driving strategy, execution and overall growth of Marsh’s Corporate business. He is a member of the UK Executive Committee and is a main Board Director of Marsh Limited.
He has 25 years of experience in the industry beginning his career in 1995 the London and has spent the last 19 years in Broking.
Alistair joined Marsh 12 years ago where he has held roles including Southern Regional Director in the UK, he spent 5 years as Head of Sales, Asia based in Singapore and prior to his current role was Chief Executive Officer for Marsh in Indonesia and Chief Corporate Officer, MMC Indonesia located in Jakarta.
Alistair holds a BA(Hons) Financial Services from UWE, Bristol and is CII qualified.
Partner and UK Head of Insurance
Simon is a Partner and Head of Insurance at KPMG in the UK.
Simon has over 20 years financial services experience in both the UK and internationally, helping companies to successfully evolve and adapt to the constantly changing landscape in which they operate.
His insurance experience spans the sector's whole ecosystem; working with large and complex organisations down to InsurTech start-ups. Simon has built strong relationships, from Chief Executive/Board level through to first line management, enabling him to understand their needs and suggest the best approach to help them reach their growth ambitions.
As the insurance industry changes he is looking to work with clients to highlight the social value and purpose of insurance. Talent is also a key priority for Simon and he is committed to helping develop the future leadership talent pool for the insurance industry.
Chief Underwriting Officer
Nick is the Chief Underwriting Officer of Markel International with responsibility for underwriting profitability, oversight and risk. Prior to this role, Nick was Director of Underwriting for three years and also Chief Actuary for 18 years, during which time he built an actuarial team with responsibilities for reserving, pricing, capital modelling and catastrophe management. Nick joined Markel in 1997, qualified as an Actuary in 1999 and joined the boards of Markel’s London companies in 2008. His professional interests include thinking about how insurance will evolve into the future and he enjoys taking part in the many mentoring schemes available in the market, which he views as an opportunity for him to learn new ideas as much as anything else.
