NGIN's City Hotspots

If you’re stuck on where to book for a breakfast meeting, bored of the same lunch and dinner spots or don’t know where to suggest for that coffee catch up, then look no further!

Feast your eyes on our committee’s favourite food spots across the city…

Breakfast

Loch Fyne

Location: Leadenhall Market

Jasmine, Brand Officer – “For breakfast meetings, I love Lock Fyne in Leadenhall Market. From traditional American pancakes to Full English Breakfast, there is very little about their menu I don't like. They even have a section of the menu dedicated to avocados - isn't that what millennial dreams are made of?”

Breakfast & Burgers

Location: Leadenhall Street

Ellie, Newsletter Editor – “If you are in need of a quick breakfast to see you through the day after a late night, then Breakfast & Burgers is not to be missed. The hash browns are the best around!”

Coffee

Notes Coffee

Location: Angel Court

Jasmine, Brand Officer – “Great coffee spot and bonus, it turns into a wine bar every evening.”

Secret Frog Coffee Co.

Location: Houndsditch

Jess, Memberships Officer – “I like the Secret Frog. Located in a little lane a stone’s throw away from JLT’s offices, this little gem is an underground sports shop and café which turns into a wine bar in the evenings. Great for meetings as it is tucked away from the beaten track, but their unique coffee blend is a must try.”

Lloyd’s Coffee Shop

Location: Lloyd’s Ground Floor

Jasmine, Brand Officer –“My hunt for the best hot chocolate in town has led me no further than the Lloyd's coffee shop. Don't forget to add lots of cream and marshmallows.”

Jess, Memberships Officer – “Hear, hear to the Lloyd’s hot chocolate! It is what dreams are made of! Have not found a better place in the square mile for it either.”

Manon Café

Location: Eastcheap

Benjamin, Chairman – “For coffee this one of my favourite places (you get a free chocolate with your coffee) and I’m also a big fan of Joe & the Juice which is a lot more funky.”

Joe & The Juice

Location: Eastcheap

Jasmine, Brand Officer – “Joe & the Juice is a favourite of mine, especially as a non-coffee drinker! It's a great venue for meeting with clients and the menu is full of healthy alternatives for when you've already had your fourth caffeine fix of the day.”

Lunch

Burger & Lobster

Location: Threadneedle Street

Charlotte, Social Media Editor – “You don’t need to book and service is quick making Burger & Lobster a great lunchtime spot.”

Tank & Paddle

Location: Minster Court

Jasmine, Brand Officer – “This one does exactly as it says on the tin 'great beer and pizza' and as a huge pizza lover, it ticks all of my boxes. The Smoky Mac 'n' Cheese is to die for and don't forget to check the board behind the bar; the selected name gets to drink for free.”

Lamb Tavern

Location: Leadenhall Market

Jess, Memberships Officer – “For lunch, I like to dine overseas clients in the “Dining room” which is the restaurant tucked away upstairs in the Lamb tavern in Leadenhall Market. Lovely traditional feels with seasonal British classics on offer.”

Mudmee Thai

Location: Artillery Passage

Rubina, Outreach Officer – “They do the best pad thai and nasi goreng dishes - my local hangout, great portions and good price, always busy, family feel setting.”

Ottolenghi

Location: Artillery Lane

Jess, Memberships Officer – “Ottolenghi’s is also a favourite of mine to frequent with my more health conscious clients as they do a great lunch offering of healthy meat and salad combinations and also are very good at catering for a range of dietary requirements. Booking most definitely required for this taste sensation.”

Dinner

Hispania

Location: Lombard Street

Kumari, Secretary – “Wonderful Spanish dishes, including delicious tapas (croquettas are a must) close to Bank Station. The restaurant is housed in what was historically a Lloyd’s Bank building, and features beautiful tiled floors and elegant décor. Service is always excellent. Would recommend being seated upstairs.”

The Ned

Location: Poultry

Kumari, Secretary – “A number of great restaurants and bars, again close to Bank Station, within the Grade I-listed former Midland Bank building. Particularly recommend Zobler’s Deli (for some pretty authentic New York deli bites) and drinks at the Nickel bar.”

Yauatcha City

Location: Broadgate Circle

Kumari, Secretary – “Delicious dim sum (spicy soft shell crab is a particular favourite!) and wonderful patisserie desserts, with an outdoor seating area in good weather. This is part of the Hakkasan group, and is a sister restaurant to Yauatcha in Soho.”

Coppa Club

Location: Lower Thames Street

Benjamin, Chairman – “For food, I’d recommend Coppa Club if you’re keeping it relatively casual.”

Butlers Wharf Chop House

Location: Shad Thames

Benjamin, Chairman – “For something more formal. It’s a bit of a walk but worth it!”
